ORGANISATION
This is how the Self-help Network is structured
Since 1991 the Self-help Network has grown into a professional organisation with its own purpose and vision: create awareness for self-help and ensure that groups can operate.
Team
The organisation exists of a team of paid employees located in the offices in Eindhoven, Helmond and Best. They are the first point of contact for participants and for contact persons of the various groups. They are also the first contact point in case you are looking or a self-help group or are planning to initiate one yourself. Furthermore, in these offices various volunteers provide active support in the daily tasks.
Management
The team is supported by a management team of professionals from different sectors. The board has the final responsibility for the organisation and supports the team with the organizational aspects.
Bert Spooren – Chairman
Jos van Keulen – Treasurer
Trudy van der Wielen – Secretary
Niek Boselie – Human Resources
Board of Self-help
Also active is Board of Self-help. This is a group of volunteers which, based on their own experiences with self-help, is supporting the team in terms of content. They are the guardians of the so-called “soul of self-help”.
Volunteers
As mentioned above, volunteers are active in the various offices. Also the management team and Board consist of volunteers. All contact persons who operate their own group do this voluntarily and on the basis of reciprocity for which they do not receive any volunteer’s compensation. Furthermore we have volunteers who share their experiences during informational sessions and who provide the training to initiate a group. In total around 200 volunteers are active in the Self-help Network.
